Campaign Story

Hi!

My name is Cori and my husband’s name is Damien. We are both 26 years old. I recently graduated from Cal State San Marcos with my Liberal Studies degree and a minor in Mathematics. I’m on my way to soon becoming a High School math teacher, which has been my dream ever since I was 7 years old. My husband of 3 years currently co-manages an aviation warehouse in Southern California.

This past year, almost all of our dreams have become realities and we couldn’t be more excited to jump into our careers. With our futures and financial livelihood no longer being a concern, we decided it’s time to chase our lost dream – a baby.

I must admit, beginning this process is absolutely nerve-wrecking for me; not because I’m scared of being a mom, but because I’m terrified of being infertile. I realized my love for kids and babies at a very young age. I have always been a natural caregiver. At age 14 I got my first summer job babysitting two kids in my hometown. Funny story actually, I posted an ad on Craigslist in 2012 offering babysitting for only $5/hour. Only one family contacted me that wasn’t a complete scam. I ended up watching this family’s son and daughter for 9 straight years. Eventually, they were only able to afford to pay me $25/day (usually 8-10 hour days) which wasn’t much, but I loved these kids so much that I would have babysat them for absolutely nothing.

I told that story as an example of my true passion for working with kids, and I have never stopped dreaming of having babies of my own, and a beautiful, happy family.

Sadly, my hopes and dreams to bring tiny miracles into the world have almost completely diminished. Since the age of 19, I have suffered from 2 miscarriages. At age 23, I found out that I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), which I learned may have been the cause of my miscarriages.

I can’t describe the pain and torment I feel every day knowing that I might not be able to have kids. It’s taken a lot of time to heal and gain the courage for my husband and I to begin this process. I made my first appointment for a basic fertility test through my OBGYN, but the next steps will certainly lead us to fertility treatment centers.

I began losing hope again when I learned how much fertility tests/treatments will probably end up costing us, so that’s why we’re reaching out to anyone who’s able to help. We are so close to achieving alol our dreams, but none of our recent accomplishments feel complete without a family of our own to love and support.

Thank you for listening, and a HUGE thank you to anyone able to donate.

Much love and gratitude,
Cori & Damien
